Energy can be generated from a range of different sources, such as burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal or gas, or generated from natural renewable sources, such as from wind, wave and tidal or solar power. The technologies used to generate energy and convert it to usable power, in the form of electricity or heat, and to deliver that to the end user are varied and multitudinous also. This Section explains a few of the main technolgies and sources and gives an outline of the activities and opportunities in North East England within the various energy sectors:
