NEA celebrates its Silver Jubilee by announcing new Bursary Fund
This year is NEA's 25th year in existence and they are celebrating their 'Silver Jubilee' in various ways during the year. One of the things that may be of interest is a newly launched Silver Jubilee Fund (in partnership with the Community Foundation) which will provide bursaries totalling £20,000. Some information about this is available for download below, or alternatively more information is available from their website which you can visit by clicking here
The main things to point out about the fund are that:
- There will be two bursaries of up-to £5,000 and ten bursaries of up-to £1,000.
- The Fund will reward community workers and volunteers in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland who are reaching out to vulnerable people.
- The Fund will offer bursaries to enable people from eligible organisations to travel beyond the Region and participate in field-trips, exchange visits or conferences in other parts of the UK or oversees which focus on fuel poverty and sustainable energy.
Examples of activities which could be funded include:
- Field-trips and visits to see fuel poverty and sustainable energy projects in UK or oversees
- Attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops in UK or oversees to improve understanding of fuel poverty and sustainable energy solutions
- Exchange visits with staff working for organisations in other parts of UK or oversees with similar objectives
The successful candidates will be awarded their bursary at an event at the Sage Gateshead on 8 December 2006, which is to celebrate NEA’s work in the region and look ahead to what action is needed by 2016 if the Government is to meet its targets to eradicate fuel poverty in the North East.
