Microrenewables
Page Under Construction
Microgeneration is the production of heat and/or electricity on a small-scale from a low carbon source. Various technologies can be used for microgeneration. (note, descriptions will be added to this website over next few weeks)
DTI Microgeneration Strategy
Following a wide consultation process during 2005/06, the Government launched its Microgeneration Strategy in March 2006. You can download the strategy and find out more information from the Microgeneration page on the DTI website. This page has links to the strategy itself, but also a summary of the responses to the consultation can be viewed.
Low Carbon Buildings Programme
In addition, the Government announced in 2006 its Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP). This replaces Clear Skies, the DTIs funding stream for microgenerating products. The LCBP programme will provide grants for microgeneration technologies for householders, community organisations, schools, the public sector and businesses. The Energy Saving Trust (EST) won the right to administer this on behalf of DTI. If you'd like to find out more about the funding that's available, then visit the EST Low Carbon Buildings Programme website.
