This regional event will showcase advanced technologies developed for harsh environments over the last decade by Newcastle University.

The seminar will discuss a wide variety of technologies are available to industry, at a high technology readiness level, from the EXTREME programme which include:
- Wireless sensor networks
- Sub-sea high bandwidth short range data communications
- Through metal communications
- Silicon carbide sensors for high temperature, high radiation and harsh chemical environments
- Silicon carbide high power electronics for energy conversion applications
- Underwater low bandwidth, long range communication
