Case Study Details

Twelve photovoltaic systems were installed during 2003-04 on new build houses on the Newcastle Great Park. The project was funded through the dti Domestic PV Field Trial and was delivered through a partnership of Bryant/Taylor Woodrow Homes, Persimmon Homes, Arup, BP Solar, Newcastle City Council and Scottish & Southern Energy. TNEI Services were overall Project Managers. Additional funding was received from One North East, Newcastle City Council and Government Office for the North East. Two different photovoltaic products were installed, a retrofit modular system and an integrated tiling system. The objective was to create a domestic demonstration for the North East that would assist volume house builders in gaining familiarity with, and hands on experience of, photovoltaic systems in relation to new build houses.
